Justin Barlow brings you full match results from last night’s opening round of the world heavyweight championship tournament at Premier Pro Wrestling studios in Woodstock, IL.

-TRIPLE THREAT MATCH-
INIESTRA DEF. ZERO 1 AND ZERO 3
Even with his odds greatly reduced in this match not only because of its triple threat stipulation but also because of the cooperation between Zero 1 and Zero 3, Woodstock’s own Iniestra was able to score a pin fall victory to advance one step closer to claiming the vacant championship.

“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. “IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON VIA DISQUALIFICATION
Just as it appeared he had the matchup in the bag, Andy Anderson made the mistake of putting his hands on the official who immediately called for a disqualification and awarded the match to Matt Vine who now advances in the tournament while Andy must now await his second chance to get back in the game.

“THE URBAN REBELLION” CUTTA CROSBY DEF. “THE SCIENCE” MARCUS SMITH
Despite being full of confidence and his patented “Muscle by Marcus” protein powder, all it took was a split second of Marcus Smith letting his guard down for his opponent, Cutta Crosby, to execute a backslide pin and advance in the tournament.

“TEXAS” PETE DEF. “THE SCIENCE” MARCUS SMITH
Humiliated by his loss to Cutta Crosby, Marcus Smith demanded his second chance then and there. Answering the call: none other than PPW veteran, “Texas” Pete! After being sidelined with an injury for the better part of six months, Pete returned to PPW looking to make a statement and it was at the further embarrassment of Marcus Smith that he made that statement. Mind games and veteran instinct reigned supreme and “Texas” Pete handed Marcus his second tournament loss meaning that Marcus is now out of the tournament.

– 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH –
CHASE GOSLING DEF. “THE HUMAN VIDEO GAME” SCOTT COLTON
Still feeling the sting of losing his precious mustache two weeks prior, Chase Gosling was determined to put Scott Colton out of action for good and advance in the tournament in the process. The two men were able to score one pin a piece in quick succession and, after an exhausting third fall, it was Chase Gosling who was able to use Colton’s own momentum against him and, thanks to a hand full of Colton’s tights unseen by the referee, Chase was able to, many might say, steal a first round victory, leaving Colton with one more chance to advance.
