Full match results from June 17, 2017 #PPW148 taping at Premier Pro Wrestling studios in Woodstock, IL and Post Show Wrap Up with Justin Barlow.
– SINGLES MATCH –
JAMIE GARZA DEF. ZERO 1 VIA PIN FALL
With his stock continuing to rise in PPW, rookie Jamie Garza had a rather formidable task ahead of him as he squared off against the much more experienced Zero 1. Despite this, however, Jamie was able to catch Zero 1 off guard and roll him up with a small package for the win, adding another feather to his cap.
– GRUDGE MATCH –
RONNY “VERONICA” METRO VS. “THE HUMAN VIDEO GAME” SCOTT COLTON ENDED IN A DOUBLE COUNTOUT
After dragging Colton’s family into their rivalry earlier in the week, “VeRonica” Metro had a bullseye on his back and Scott was locked on target, ready to make his opponent pay. When neither man would stay down, the action spilled to the outside, but neither was able to answer the referee’s ten count, making the match a draw by double countout, leaving both furious at the loss of an opportunity to prove himself over the other.
– SINGLES MATCH –
HAMMOND EGGERTS DEF. ZERO 1 VIA PIN FALL
With another pep talk from the Dirty Boys Club still fresh in his mind, Hammond Eggerts faced the challenge of a still hungry Zero 1 who wanted to avenge a loss to Jamie Garza a couple of matches prior. However, Hammond seemed to have forgotten (or ignored) the D.B.C.’s earlier instructions to avoid feeding off of the energy of the Premier Planet and came to the ring waving Old Glory to counteract Zero 1’s aggressive display of patriotism for his home country. This fueled the Premier Planet which apparently fueled Hammond and the potential pledge to the D.B.C. was able to pick up the win with a sunset flip over the top rope.
– SINGLES MATCH –
INIESTRA DEF. “TEXAS” PETE VIA PIN FALL
After coming up short in what many are lauding as the greatest triple threat match in PPW history, Woodstock’s own Iniestra has been pushed down the ladder in terms of title contention, but it seemed to only make “El Mero Mero” more focused on climbing back up and his first step was a match with long-time roster member, “Texas” Pete, who fell victim to a springboard moonsault from the second rope, but as Iniestra celebrated his victory, Ronny Metro blindsided him and initiated a brutal beatdown. When Ronny was satisfied with the damage done, he left the ringside area and Scott Colton ran in to check on his friend who needed to be assisted to the back for evaluation. Scott then returned to the ring and demanded another match with Ronny to avenge his friend which was granted.
– PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH –
“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. “THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING (C) VIA PIN FALL
Finally back in the #1 contender’s seat after so many weeks of struggle, the former champ, Matt Vine, got what many would say was his long overdue shot at the reigning champion, Chase Gosling, who had, up to this point, been having an easier go of things in non-title matches against PPW students and rookies. The match went for over half an hour and saw both competitors utilize everything in their arsenals to bring down the other man, but with a well timed crucifix, Matt was able to get Chase into a pinning predicament the champ was not able to escape from, meaning there is now a new PPW World Heavyweight Champion and his name is Matt Vine! In a seldom seen move, however, champion challenged challenger for a rematch at PPW #149 to prove that he is the fighting champion he says he is and not one who takes shortcuts to avoid defending the title. The rematch has been approved and the main event for PPW’s last stop before our landmark 150th studio taping has been set!
