– NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS MATCH –
“THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING DEF. “EL MERO MERO” INIESTRA BY WAY OF SUBMISSION
Kicking off our first taping of 2018 was the hotly anticipated number one contenders rematch between Iniestra and Chase Gosling who battled to a 45 minute time limit draw at #PPW176. With one hour at their disposal, the Premier Planet waited in excited anticipation to see who would be next to face the PPW Champion and the result was a PPW instant classic. Trading the offense in lightning fast exchanges, Chase and Iniestra’s efforts resulted in numerous near falls that came within a hair of seeing one of them walk away with the victory, but Iniestra found himself in a desperate state when Chase was able to lock him in the Saturday Night Special in the middle of the ring. With nowhere to go, Iniestra fought to stay in the game for as long as he could, but his will wore out and he was forced to tap out to Chase. With this victory, Chase is now one step away from reclaiming the PPW World Heavyweight Championship.
– TRIPLE THREAT MATCH –
ANAKIN DEF. SEM SEI AND “IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON BY WAY OF PIN FALL
After two draws in singles matches in as many weeks, Premier Academy standouts, Anakin and Sem Sei, were granted another opportunity to prove who leads the pack amongst the Academy students, but this match contained a serious X factor as the wily and heavily experienced PPW veteran, Andy Anderson, was thrown into the mix. When the match started, Anakin and Sem combined their skills to temporarily take Andy out of the match, but only one man could win and while Anakin and Sem turned their focus to each other, Andy took advantage and seized control of the match, but while Andy controlled the majority of the contest, he could not put the standouts away. With the referee tending to Anakin on the apron, Andy delivered a low blow to Sem, but it was Anakin who would take advantage and, with Andy out of the way, cover Sem for the 1-2-3. After the match, Anakin extended his hand in a show of humble sportsmanship, but Sem refused to reciprocate. Seeing an opportunity to stir the pot, Iniestra came to the ring and began trying to convince Sem that Anakin had deliberately stabbed him in the back by seizing on the opening after Andy’s low blow. With Sem conflicted, Iniestra decided to fire the first shot and attacked Anakin. Seeing this, Sem, instead of coming to Anakin’s aid, joined in on the attack until Matt Vine stormed the ring, chased Iniestra and Sem to the outside, and issued a challenge for a tag team match between the team of him and Anakin and the team of Iniestra and Sem which Iniestra accepted.
– SINGLES MATCH –
SKYE BLUE DEF. “SHREDDING” CONNOR CORR BY WAY OF PIN FALL
Feeling like the Premier Planet wasn’t worthy of hearing him play, Connor Corr, at first, refused to shred on his guitar, but after misinterpreting their response (or, perhaps, in spite of it), he decided to treat them to a concert until he was interrupted by Skye Blue, much to the delight of the Premier Planet. Taking numerous liberties with the rules, Connor repeatedly pushed the referee’s patience in the name of “equality,” but the self-proclaimed virtuoso was caught off guard with a small package from Skye which allowed Skye to pick up the win. Furious over the defeat, Connor challenged Skye to a rematch, claiming that she cannot win a fair match and vowing to defeat her in the middle of the ring.
– PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH –
RONNY “VERONICA” METRO DEF. “THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE (C) BY WAY OF PIN FALL
After being attacked by Ronny after their match at #PPW176, Matt Vine demanded that Ronny Metro meet him again, even going so far as to put his title at stake despite having been victorious and retaining. The referee had his hands full just trying to keep the two separated while the announcements were made, so once the bell rang all hell broke loose and the two wrestled as if their very lives depended on the outcome. It seemed as if the title was secondary in their minds as the match wore on and the two seemed more interested in putting the other man out of the wrestling business for good. With one last gasp, Matt had Ronny in prime position to deliver a Vine-buster, but Ronny was able to dodge and delivered a thunderous slam followed by a splash from the top rope which sealed Matt’s fate and, with a new year, there is now also a new champion in Premier Pro Wrestling and his name is Ronny Metro!
