A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE CHRIS CHAMPION (1961 – 2018)

Before we get to the results from Saturday’s studio taping, we here at Premier Pro Wrestling would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of former WCW & USWA star, Chris Champion, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 57. During his time in the wrestling industry, Chris’s most notable tenures were with the United States Wrestling Association based in Memphis, TN and World Championship Wrestling where, wrestling under the name Yoshi Kwan, he worked with such legendary names as Ricky Steamboat, Mick Foley, and even Ric Flair while being managed by the legendary Harley Race. Chris was also an instrumental figure in the early career of our own COO, Randy Ricci, making Chris an indirect contributor to the rise of Premier Pro Wrestling. We here at PPW honor Chris’s memory and thank him for his indirect contributions to our brand through his time working with Randy and teaching him some of the skills Randy is now teaching to our students in the Premier Academy. May he rest in peace.

SINGLES MATCH
“CONNEST” CONNOR CORR DEF. LA TARANTULA BY WAY OF PIN FALL

Kicking off our 213th studio taping was a one-on-one match between the self-proclaimed “Connest” one, Connor Corr, and Premier Academy standout, La Tarantula who put up an impressive effort against Connor, but fell victim to Connor’s underhanded tactics when Connor rolled him up with a schoolboy and, thanks to a handful of tights unseen by the referee, stole a pin fall victory.

SINGLES MATCH
JOSE ACOSTA VS. ANAKIN ENDS IN A TIME LIMIT DRAW

In a Premier Academy showcase, two top standouts, Jose Acosta and Anakin, set their friendship aside to go head-to-head in the ring. In a very evenly paced matchup, both competitors showcased their skills both in the air and on the mat, but being evenly matched meant that neither man could keep his opponent down long enough to score the fall. Finally, as the thirty minute time limit ticked down to its final moments, both Anakin and Jose pulled out all the stops to try and pick up the win before time expired, but to no avail. Even with thirty minutes at their disposal, neither man could put the other away and the match was ruled a draw when the time ran out. However, Premier officials were so impressed with the match that Anakin and Jose were immediately granted a rematch to take place this coming Saturday at #PPW214.

TAG TEAM MATCH
“EL MERO MERO” INIESTRA & SEM SEI DEF. “NOT BAD” CHAD & “IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON BY WAY OF PIN FALL

After being victorious in their singles matches at #PPW212, Iniestra and Sem Sei were feeling pretty proud of themselves heading into #PPW213. Now reunited as a tag team, they looked to conquer two more “racists,” but standing in their way would be another of PPW’s more formidable tag teams, “Not Bad” Chad and Andy Anderson, who owed Sem a bit of payback after Sem stole a victory from him at #PPW212. Knowing that Andy held a significant advantage in experience along with his erratic and eccentric in-ring style, Sem and Iniestra spent a large portion of the match doing everything in their collective power to keep Chad isolated and Andy out of the equation, but when Chad was finally able to tag Andy in, the Irish brawler quickly turned the tables on “El Unico” and “El Papi Chulo.” However, as Andy dealt with Iniestra outside the ring, the referee became distracted trying to instruct him to get back in the ring. That was when Sem snuck in with a kendo stick and struck Chad across the spine, sending a shockwave through Chad’s nervous system and stunning him. Unaware of what had just transpired in the ring, Andy rolled Iniestra back in and, seeing Chad laying on the mat, Iniestra seized the moment and covered him to pick up the pin fall for the win.

SINGLES MATCH
SKYE BLUE DEF. ZERO 2 (W/ “CONNEST” CONNOR CORR) BY WAY OF PIN FALL

When she was robbed of her chance to get her hands other arch nemesis, “Connest” Connor Corr, after Connor helped Zero 1 defeat her at #PPW212, Skye Blue demanded a match with Connor, but was instead given Zero 2 with Connor’s word that, should she be victorious, she would get the match she so badly wanted. Having learned her lesson from the week prior, Skye made sure to keep her eyes on Connor as much as on her opponent, Zero 2 and, despite furious offense from Zero 2, Skye was able to pin him and earn her match with Connor, much to the “Connest” one’s dismay.

PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE VS. “THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING (C) THROWN OUT DUE TO OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE

Having just barely made it out of #PPW212 with not only his title reign, but his entire career in tact, PPW Champion, Chase Gosling, would now put the title on the line against the man who saved him from a vicious onslaught at the hands of Jay Bradley, the number one contender and the man Chase defeated to win the title at #PPW211, Matt Vine. Putting their personal feelings and mutual respect for one another aside, the two competitors who have come to know each other so well from multiple clashes both as tag team partners and as opponents put on an exciting match that kept the Premier Planet on the edge of their seats. Close call after close call nearly produced a winner several times over the course of the contest, but neither man could find that necessary “silver bullet” to finally put the other down long enough for a decision. However, just as it seemed like a winner was about to be crowned, Iniestra and Sem Sei emerged from the locker room, charged into the ring, and immediately began an assault on Chase and Matt, leaving the referee no choice but to throw the match out. This turn of events enraged not only Matt who had just been robbed of his chance to regain the championship for a record fifth time, but also Chase who had been robbed of his chance to prove that his win over Matt two weeks prior had not been a fluke. Itching for payback, Chase issued a challenge to Iniestra and Sem and invited Matt to team up with him and reform one of the most dominant tag teams in PPW history. The match was made and this Saturday night, in the main event, “The Axis of Ego” reunites when PPW World Heavyweight Champion, Chase Gosling, teams up with “The World Exclusive” Matt Vine to take on the team of Iniestra and Sem Sei!
