March 5th – Woodstock, IL
“THE URBAN REBELLION” CUTTA CROSBY DEF. SCUBA SAM
Making his PPW debut, Scuba Sam, the man from beneath the waves, made an impressive impact against PPW veteran, Cutta Crosby, but experience carried the day when Scuba Sam let his guard down for a split second which allowed Cutta to gain the advantage and, eventually, the victory.
CHASE GOSLING DEF. ZERO 2
Originally, Chase Gosling was scheduled to square off against Huevos De Oro and Zero 2 in a handicap match. However, Huevos De Oro contracted a case of, as Chase termed it, “Montezuma’s revenge” and was unable to attend which left Zero 2 to face Chase one-on-one. Zero 2’s martial arts prowess was on full display throughout the match, but the ever sly Chase was able to hit his opponent with a devastating powerbomb, leading to a three count and a win.
RONNY METRO DEF. “IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON
After enduring a loss to the champion, Scott Colton, last week, Ronny Metro was determined to prove to everyone that it was a fluke, but standing in his way was eccentric (to say the least) veteran “Irish” Andy Anderson. From the onset, Andy crept under Ronny’s skin with his unorthodox in-ring style and ability to get the fans to join in on mocking “the big baby,” as they termed it. Andy controlled most of the matchup, but Ronny was able to take advantage of a split second opening and caught Andy in a schoolboy roll-up just long enough for the referee to count to three, gaining a measure of redemption after losing his chance at the PPW world title last week.
– PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS MATCH –
“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. “THE SCIENCE” MARCUS SMITH
In what was scheduled to be a normal one-on-one contest, PPW CEO “Rockin'” Randy decided to shake things up by adding a special stipulation to the contest and turned it into a #1 contenders match with the winner gaining an opportunity at the PPW World Heavyweight Championship on March 12th! The stipulation brought out the hunger and ferocity in both competitors and the momentum shifted from one to the other on several occasions until Matt Vine was able to catch “The Science” on his way down from a high risk maneuver and turn it into a northern lights suplex pin which put Marcus down long enough for Vine to earn the victory AND claim the #1 contendership that has eluded him for months!
– PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP –
INIESTRA VS. “THE HUMAN VIDEO GAME” SCOTT COLTON (C) ENDED IN A DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION
In what was perhaps the most hotly anticipated contest of the evening, best friends, Iniestra and PPW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Colton, clashed in what was an exciting fast-paced matchup. Given how well Iniestra and Colton know each other, both put maximum effort into finding new and unexpected ways to ground his opponent. Fighting until they were both almost too exhausted to stand, “ya boys” put on a fantastic display of passion and heart, but only one could walk out with the title. However, the referee found himself on the receiving end of offense targeted at the other competitor once too often and made the decision to rule the match a double disqualification, much to the chagrin of the wrestlers and the fans in attendance. Despite knowing he would be leaving without the title, Iniestra congratulated his friend on retaining and even took the time to help the referee to the back. As Colton stayed in the ring to celebrate retaining the title, he was blindsided by Ronny Metro who, apparently, was out to avenge his loss to Colton last week. As Ronny laid a beating on the champ, Iniestea reemerged to help his friend and together they turned the tables on Ronny until Chase Gosling entered the fray to even the odds. As the four brawled inside the ring, newly crowned #1 contender Matt Vine emerged from the locker room. With steel chair in hand, Vine broke up the melee and Iniestra asked for a microphone and called out a challenge for a tag team match next week between he & Colton and Ronny & Chase. PPW CEO “Rockin'” Randy came to ringside to address the situation. Knowing that Matt Vine had already been guaranteed a world title match against Colton, Randy decided to poll the Premier Planet on which match they would rather see. Just as Randy was about to make the official announcement based on the audience’s reaction, however, Colton apologetically interrupted and stated that, instead of robbing the fans of one match or the other next week, he would compete not once, but twice — first in the tag team match and then again in the main event against Vine. Randy gave the idea his verbal stamp of approval and next week we will have a double main event!
