RANDOM FANDOM NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TOURNAMENT –

With no legitimate challenger to the PPW World Heavyweight Championship in place, the best and brightest of the Premier roster were placed in a ten man tournament to crown a new number one contender, but the tournament would carry a special stipulation. Instead of the participants being assigned to an opponent ahead of time, the opening round would be decided by the Premier Planet in the Random Fandom where the wrestlers’ and their opponents would be drawn at random by members of the Premier Planet who were also drawn at random. This not only created more excitement in terms of fan participation, but also provided a greater challenge to the wrestlers involved since none of them would be able to study their opponents beforehand and would need to think on their feet if they hoped to succeed.

Originally, PPW Champion, Ronny “Veronica” Metro, had been scheduled for non-title action, but Ronny made an appearance at the top of the program to announce that, due to an injury, he would be unable to compete. Hearing this, Premier COO Randy Ricci declared that he did not believe Ronny’s injury claims to be legitimate, but he granted Ronny the night off to avoid any liability. However, Randy then informed Ronny that, should he fail to compete at PPW #192, he would be stripped of the title and the title would then be awarded to the winner of the number one contender tournament, raising the stakes even further for the participants.

FIRST ROUND MATCHES –

“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. SEM SEI BY WAY OF PIN FALL

The first two wrestlers draw by the Premier Planet were none other than the only three time champion in company history, Matt Vine, and a man who Matt has become no stranger to, Sem Sei. While Sem showed impressive offense during the match, Matt was able to trap Sem in a well timed backslide, catching Sem off guard and allowing Matt to pin him for the first win in the tournament.

“IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON DEF. ZERO 2 BY WAY OF PIN FALL

Back to his old self again after the implosion of the Dirty Boys Club a number of weeks ago, Andy Anderson was the next to be drawn for competition, but he would have his work cut out for him when the Premier Planet drew Zero 2, who came to the ring with both Zero 3 and Connor Corr, to be his opponent. Despite the numerical odds against him, Andy was able to pick up the victory by putting Zero 2 down and out with an Andybomb out of the corner, taking him into the semi-finals and one step closer to the PPW Championship and revenge against his now bitter rival, Ronny Metro.

“EL MERO MERO” INIESTRA DEF. “SHREDDIN’” CONNOR CORR BY WAY OF PIN FALL

In a bizarre pairing, former champion, Iniestra, and self-proclaimed egalitarian, Connor Corr, we drawn to face one another in the Random Fandom. Perhaps understanding his experience disadvantage right out of the gate, Connor attempted to utilize mind over muscle and employed some unorthodox antics in order to throw Iniestra off of his game, but “El Mero Mero” proved to be too much for him and, with a sunset flip over the top rope, Iniestra was able to score the pin and punch his ticket to the next round.

“THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING DEF. ANAKIN BY WAY OF PIN FALL

Despite an overflowing well of respect for one another, it was all business when former two time champion, Chase Gosling, and the young standout, Anakin, were drawn to face each other in the opening round. Anakin brought no shortage of the heart and indomitable spirit that he has become known for to the match, but while trying to block a high risk maneuver from Chase, Anakin mistakenly put himself in an even more precarious position and, with a thunderous slam from the top rope, Chase was able to pick up the victory over the young standout, but he did not leave the ring without showing Anakin an appreciated display of sportsmanship for a valiant effort.

ZERO 3 DEF. LA TARANTULA BY WAY OF PIN FALL

It was now down to the final two names left to be drawn and that meant that La Tarantula, who has been seeking his first win in PPW for quite some time, had to contend with Zero 3, accompanied by Zero 2 and Connor Corr. Just when it seemed like La Tarantula might finally pick up his first “W,” the Zeroes took advantage of a distraction and, out of sight of the referee, switched places. This was when Zero 2, now masquerading as Zero 3, executed a small package on La Tarantula and took home the 1-2-3, moving on to the semi-finals and leaving his opponent with another tally in the loss column.

SEMI-FINAL MATCHES –

With the opening round of the tournament now in the history books, those who prevailed found themselves one step closer to ultimate victory, but still with a long road ahead as the eventual winner would still need to endure and survive two more rounds in order to clinch the number one contendership and, quite possibly, the PPW World Championship itself. To further ensure a level playing field, Premier officials declared that, due to the stakes, all managers and accompaniments would be barred from ringside to avoid any unfair advantages.

“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. “THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING BY WAY OF PIN FALL

The first semi-final match would be contested between two of PPW’s most dominant former champions and two men who are no strangers to one another, Chase Gosling and Matt Vine. With a combined five title reigns between them, both were heavy favorites in the tournament, but in the end only one could move on to the finals and, after an exhausting battle, it was Matt Vine who delivered a Vinebuster to Chase for the win, but a show of sportsmanship after the match earned both competitors a well-deserved round of applause from the Premier Planet.

– TRIPLE THREAT MATCH –
“EL MERO MERO” INIESTRA DEF. “IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON AND ZERO 3 BY WAY OF PIN FALL

With an odd number of competitors in the semi-finals, it was decided that, in lieu of one participant getting a bye and automatically moving forward in the tournament, the solution would be to hold a triple threat match to decide who would go on to face Matt Vine in the final round. With the unorthodox and unpredictable Andy Anderson standing across the ring, chomping at the bit for a fight, Iniestra and Zero 3 formed a temporary alliance in an effort to take Andy out of the equation, but Andy was determined to get to the finals and, from there, move on to get his hands on Ronny after several weeks of abuse at the hands of the champion. However, Andy’s train of momentum was stalled when he tried to deliver an Andybomb to Iniestra who was able to get his knees up into Andy’s face. With Andy stunned, Iniestra threw Zero 3 out of the ring and covered Andy for the pin, bringing him into the finals to face Matt Vine.

TOURNAMENT FINAL –
“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. “EL MERO MERO” INIESTRA BY WAY OF PIN FALL

Going into their third match of the night, Matt and Iniestra summoned whatever fuel they had left over from their previous matches and put their hearts and souls into the final round, both knowing what was at stake. After a seesaw match that saw both nearly take home the victory on numerous occasions, Iniestra scaled the top turnbuckle, apparently looking to end the match with a high risk offense, but he was caught in mid-air by Matt who used the momentum from the leap to deliver a powerslam which was enough to end Iniestra’s hopes of a title match. Matt Vine is now back in the main event picture and is set to face Ronny Metro for the gold this coming Saturday, but again, if Ronny fails to compete, Matt will automatically be crowned PPW World Heavyweight Champion for a record fourth time.
