Full match results from January 7, 2017 #PPW125 taping at Premier Pro Wrestling studios in Woodstock, IL and Post Show Wrap Up with Justin Barlow.

– SINGLES MATCH –
“TEXAS” PETE DEF. “THE LIFE OF THE PARTY” RAVE ELLIS VIA PIN FALL (SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: EL LOBO)

After a prolonged hiatus from PPW, Academy standout El Lobo returned to the Premier Studio as the special guest referee for the evening’s opening contest between “Texas” Pete and the debuting “life of the party” Rave Ellis. “Texas” Pete was not exactly respectful of the guest referee and pushed his buttons to the point where El Lobo had had enough and joined Rave in putting the hurt on Pete, but Pete’s fourteen years of ring experience was still more than the newcomer could handle and El Lobo was forced to count the three.

– TAG TEAM MATCH –
THE DIRTY BOYS CLUB VS. YA BOYZ ENDED IN A NO CONTEST

An immense amount of pride was on the line in this one as Ya Boyz (“El Mero Mero” aIniestra and “The Human Video Game” Scott Colton, winner of the 2016 Challenge Pro Cup) took on rivals The Dirty Boys Club (Chase Gosling and Ronny Metro, accompanied by Andy Anderson). “Ya Boyz” controlled the pace in the opening moments of the matchup, but their crafty opponents soon turned the tables with a divide and conquer strategy, repeatedly using distractions toward the referee to their advantage whether it was causing the referee to not see Iniestra’s and Colton’s tags in and out to each other or giving Andy Anderson opportunities to interfere from the outside. Eventually, the match broke down as Andy entered the ring and chaos ensued. Having little choice, the referee threw the match out and the decision was reinforced by Premier CEO Randy Ricci who announced that next Saturday there will be a rematch only this time Andy Anderson has been taken out of the equation thanks to being given the night off.

– BATTLE ROYAL TO DETERMINE ORDER OF ENTRY IN THE ARMAGEDDON GAUNTLET –
WINNER: “THE FIVE TOOL PLAYER” CHASE GOSLING

As if the announcement of the Armageddon Gauntlet wasn’t enough to shake things up in PPW, it was announced earlier in the week that instead of the usual formula of deciding the order of the entrants via random drawing, the participants would have the opportunity to earn their places through a battle royal in which the order of elimination would determine the order of entry in the gauntlet. Eliminations transpired in the following order:

Michael Mack
Andy Anderson
Milad Akbar
“Texas” Pete
Matt Vine
Ronny Metro
Iniestra

It came down to Chase Gosling and Scott Colton and it was Chase Gosling who dealt the final strike and tossed Colton over the top rope which meant that Chase had earned the coveted final entrance in the Armageddon Gauntlet.

– ARMAGEDDON GAUNTLET FOR THE PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP –

Round 2: “The Persian Powerhouse” Milad Akbar def. “The Cornfed Colossus” Michael Mack via count out

Round 3: “Texas” Pete def. “The Persian Powerhouse” Milad Akbar via pin fall

Round 4: “The World Exclusive” Matt Vine def. “Texas” Pete via pin fall

Round 5: “The World Exclusive” Matt Vine def. Ronny Metro via pin fall

Round 6: “The World Exclusive” Matt Vine def. Iniestra via pin fall

Round 7: “The World Exclusive” Matt Vine def “The Human Video Game” Scott Colton via pin fall

Round 8 (Final Round): “The World Exclusive” Matt Vine def. “The Five Tool Player” Chase Gosling via pin fall to retain the title

Having survived his previous four rounds, Matt Vine was on the brink of exhaustion and Chase Gosling wasted no time in exploiting Vine’s fatigue. Almost on pure instinct, however, Vine stunned everyone, particularly Chase, by kicking out of attempted pins time and time again until he was able to dig deep down and get his shoulder up at the last possible fraction of a second after Chase delivered a backdrop. Chase, however, was not so lucky. With both shoulders down, the referee counted the pin for Vine and Chase’s own maneuver backfired on him, meaning that he was now eliminated from the gauntlet and Vine had retained the PPW World Heavyweight Championship! Chase, feeling robbed, hadn’t been gone half a minute when he reemerged at ringside and issued a challenge to Vine for a title match for this coming Saturday which Vine accepted.
