Full match results from January 20, 2018 #PPW179 taping at Premier Pro Wrestling studios in Woodstock, IL and Post Show Wrap Up with Justin Barlow.
– 6 PERSON TAG TEAM MATCH –
SKYE BLUE, ANAKIN, & “THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. “SHREDDING” CONNOR CORR, SEM SEI, & INIESTRA BY WAY OF PIN FALL
When the number one contenders match at #PPW178 broke down into chaos, all involved were given the opportunity to settle some scores in the form of a six person tag team match. Willing to do just about anything to win, Iniestra, Connor, and Sem pulled out numerous dirty tricks in order to steal the victory, but perhaps it was their overconfidence that proved to be their undoing. As all six participants found themselves in the ring, Connor picked up Skye, apparently setting up for a slam, but Anakin came off the top rope and delivered a missile dropkick to Skye’s back, causing Connor to fall backward with Skye across his shoulders at which point the referee made the three count and awarded the match to Skye, Anakin, and Matt.
– SINGLES MATCH –
“IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON DEF. LA TARANTULA BY WAY OF PIN FALL
A wrestler’s first match can easily be a nerve wrecking experience, especially when your opponent is a master of trickery with fifteen years of ring experience under his belt. Such was the case for Premier Academy student La Tarantula who was tasked with facing one half of the Dirty Boys Club, Andy Anderson. Despite an impressive effort in the first match of his career, La Tarantula was no match for Andy who, after an Andy Bomb, put the newcomer away, but La Tarantula’s efforts were appreciated by the Premier Planet who gave him a well deserved round of applause as he made his exit.
– NUMBER ONE CONTENDERSHIP PRELIMINARY MATCH –
“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE DEF. SEM SEI BY WAY OF PIN FALL
With the number one contender’s seat now vacant due to the events that transpired at #PPW178, four of PPW’s hungriest talents were given the opportunity to seize the opening, but first they would have to earn the opportunity to compete for that seat. Two singles matches were set and it was decided that the winners of those matches would then go on to face each other in a number one contenders match at #PPW180. The first of the two matches featured Premier Academy standout, Sem Sei, whose new attitude as of late has drawn the disdain of both fan and wrestler alike, against the only three time champion in PPW history, Matt Vine. Despite how badly Sem wants to become PPW Champion, Matt Vine’s determination to get back to the summit turned him into a virtual freight train running through everything in his way. While Sem was able to deliver some impressive offense, an attempted roll-up turned against Sem when Matt was able to reverse and pin Sem, earning Matt a place in the number one contenders match at #PPW180 and bringing him another step closer to winning back the title.
– NUMBER ONE CONTENDER PRELIMINARY MATCH –
INIESTRA DEF. ANAKIN BY WAY OF PIN FALL
The question was now, who would face Matt Vine at PPW #180 to determine a new number one contender? Would it be “El Mero Mero” Iniestra or Premier Academy standout, Anakin? With the brass ring so close to his grasp, Anakin threw every ounce of his heart and soul into the match to prove to everyone that, even at such a young age, he is worthy of wearing the gold, but the fates seemed to be aligned against the youngster. Not seeing Anakin’s foot on the rope during a pin lead to the referee awarding the match to Iniestra who now goes on to #PPW180 to face Matt Vine for the number one contendership, but Anakin has been granted another chance when he faces Sem Sei at #PPW180 for another opportunity to compete in a number one contenders match.
– PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH –
“THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING DEF. RONNY “VERONICA” METRO BY WAY OF COUNT OUT
In a rematch from #PPW178, Chase Gosling continued his pursuit of the PPW title when he faced off against the man he came so close to dethroning, Ronny Metro. This time, however, Ronny’s Dirty Boys Club partner, Andy Anderson, decided to lend Ronny a hand by interfering behind the referee’s back. Apparently feeling as though his involvement was enough to keep the gold with the Dirty Boys, Andy then left the ringside area to let Ronny pick the bone’s of Andy’s handiwork, but Chase refused to give up despite enduring a sizable amount of punishment. With the intensity sky high, the action wound up spilling to the outside and, as the referee reached the count of nine, Chase was able to get back into the ring, but the same was not the case for Ronny who was counted out, meaning that Chase may have won the match, but Ronny is still PPW World Heavyweight Champion. With a win over Ronny now under his belt and no number one contender, Chase issued the challenge to Ronny for a rematch at PPW #180 which has been granted and Chase promised that the third time will be the charm. Will he make good on that promise? Join us this coming Saturday for our 180th studio taping to find out!
