WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

JOSE ACOSTA & ANAKIN VS. “THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE & PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION “THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING ENDS IN A TIME LIMIT DRAW

After a week of eager anticipation, the stage was finally set for the tournament to crown brand new PPW World Tag Team Champions! First up were two teams who are definitely not strangers to each other, Premier Academy standouts Jose Acosta & Anakin and Matt Vine & Chase Gosling (also current PPW World Heavyweight Champion). There exists much mutual respect between the two teams, but when it came down to business, both wanted nothing more than to leave #PPW215 with the titles and both put their hearts and souls on full display in an exhilarating wrestling exhibition. Despite their obvious size and experience edge, Matt and Chase threw absolutely everything they had in their arsenal at the two standouts, but every time they would come close to seizing victory, Jose and Anakin would reach deep within to find the drive to fend off defeat and it was this drive that made Matt & Chase unable to put the two young standouts away before the time limit finally expired, but likewise for Anakin and Jose who were also unable to subdue their opposition as well. With no clear cut winner in the match, it was ruled that, not only would both teams not be eliminated from the tournament, but that both would move on and get one step closer to being crowned PPW World Tag Team Champions!

“CONNEST” CONNOR CORR & ZERO 1 DEF. LA TARANTULA & SKYE BLUE BY WAY OF PIN FALL

When the tournament was announced the week prior, six teams were given the green light to compete. However, at the eleventh hour, a seventh team was added to the mix, that being the combination of La Tarantula and Skye Blue who set out to face a team that was supposed to be made up of Zero 1 and Zero 2, but after the introduction of Zero 1, “Connest” Connor Corr, appeared instead and announced to the Premier Planet that he had made a full recovery from his unfortunate love-making injury sustained the week prior, was ready for competition, and had given Zero 2 the night off. With this shake-up in the tournament, things got even more interesting as both sides pushed closer and closer to advancing, but in the end Connor and Zero 1 would execute a simultaneous double pin on Skye and La Tarantula and steal the win thanks to a handful of tights.

“THE PRINCE OF PRO WRESTLING” TJ STEEL & JAY BRADLEY DEF. “CONNEST” CONNOR CORR & ZERO 1 BY WAY OF PIN FALL

Now overflowing with confidence after the defeat of Skye Blue and La Tarantula, Connor Corr again got on the mic to proclaim that he and Zero 1 wanted their next tournament match right away, feeling they had the momentum on their side, but there’s an old saying that goes, “Be careful what you ask for, because you may get it,” and it’s a lesson Connor and Zero 1 were about to learn the hard way, because through the curtain emerged the six foot five inch, two hundred and seventy pound juggernaut of Pro Wrestling NOAH, Jay Bradley, who was then followed by his tag team partner and the man who had come within mere inches of becoming PPW World Heavyweight Champion at #PPW200, “The Prince of Pro Wrestling” TJ Steel. Now put up against unenviable odds, Connor and Zero 1 had little time to devise a strategy before Jay and TJ went to work making an example of the “Connest” one and his protege and in the skirmish, Connor, perhaps out of sheer desperation to conserve his own well-being, sacrificed Zero 1 to Jay and TJ who took little time in subduing him with TJ utilizing a very nonchalant cover to both pin Zero 1 and send a very loud message to the other teams in the tournament that they could expect their fates to be the same. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, Connor attempted to assist Zero 1 back to the locker room, but remembering that Connor had thrown him to the wolves, so to speak, Zero 1 lashed out at Connor and refused to allow Connor to accompany him back through the curtain.

“EL MERO MERO” INIESTRA & SEM SEI DEF. “IRISH” ANDY ANDERSON & “NOT BAD” CHAD BY WAY OF DISQUALIFICATION

The stage was then set for the final preliminary matchup of the tournament and competing would be two teams who, over recent months, have not only grown quite familiar with one another, but have also developed a significant distaste for each other as well. Team one consisted of the self-proclaimed “El Unico” and “El Papi Chulo,” Iniestra and Sem Sei, who wanted the tag titles to not only give their professional careers a boost, but to also silence all of the “racists” in the Premier Planet. Across the ring, however, stood PPW’s resident party animals, “Not Bad” Chad and PPW’s longest standing veteran, “Irish” Andy Anderson. Knowing they had to keep Andy out of the equation, Iniestra and Sem took every liberty with the rulebook they could to keep Chad isolated from his partner, but when Chad was finally able to tag Andy in the tables quickly turned the other way and Iniestra and Sem found themselves in dire straits. However, seeking payback for all of the cheating Iniestra and Sem had engaged in through the course of the match, Andy decided he would give the two a taste of their own medicine, but as he delivered a low blow headbutt, guest referee Skye Blue turned around and caught Andy in the act, leaving her no choice but to call for the bell and award the match to Iniestra and Sem by way of disqualification.

TOURNAMENT FINAL
FOUR CORNERS LUCHA RULES MATCH FOR THE PPW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
“THE WORLD EXCLUSIVE” MATT VINE & PPW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION “THE HUNK WITH THE TREE TRUNKS” CHASE GOSLING DEF. “EL MERO MERO INIESTRA & SEM SEI, JOSE ACOSTA & ANAKIN, AND “THE PRINCE OF PRO WRESTLING” TJ STEEL & JAY BRADLEY BY WAY OF PIN FALL

With a time limit draw in the opening contest and a seventh team being added to the brackets, the main event in the World Tag Team Championship had now transformed into one of the most unique matches to ever take place in Premier Pro Wrestling, because now, not only would four teams compete for the gold, the match would have another special stipulation added. Instead of being a standard four corners match, the match would now also be contested under lucha rules, meaning that tags in and out could be from any legal participant to anyone standing on the apron and, if one participant exited the ring, any one of the participants on the apron could enter the match in his place. With the stakes so high and an added stipulation, the ring turned into a battlefield as all four teams took advantage of every opportunity they could to tip the momentum to their side, but with a total of eight participants in the match, finding the right opportunity to go seize a pin fall or submission seemed nearly impossible until a moment presented itself and it would be the teams of Iniestra & Sem Sei and Matt Vine & Chase Gosling who would take full advantage of the opening and Sem rolled up Chase while Matt rolled up Iniestra, leading to a double pin, but after a moment of suspense fell over the Premier Planet, it was revealed that Matt and Iniestra had been the legal men which means that Matt Vine and Chase Gosling are now your new PPW World Tag Team Champions!!!

Congratulations to the new Tag Team Champions on their victory and new reign! However, this coming Saturday night in Woodstock, the champs will not be defending their titles or even competing in tag team action. While now being one half of the PPW Tag Team Champions, Chase Gosling, is still also PPW World Heavyweight Champion and on Saturday, September 15, he will defend his championship against seven other men in a championship gauntlet and, as if that weren’t enough, one of the seven men will be none other than Chase’s tag team partner and co-champion, Matt Vine. Is Chase and Matt’s allegiance to one another strong enough to withstand this daunting trial or will their longing to be PPW World Heavyweight Champion prove to be a stumbling block? Come out to Woodstock this Saturday to find out!
